Monday Musings- Back To Color

Happy Monday ladies. I’m musing about color today and the myriad ways it affects how we look.

SEVERAL OF THE COLOR FANS I’VE BEEN GIVEN OVER THE YEARS

My color draping last month with the SciART color analyst and trainer, Terry Wildfong, was nothing short of eye-opening. I sat in a neutral gray room, wearing a neutral gray robe and head covering. Everyone in the room wore a neutral gray robe because color reacts to the colors around it. There were multiple full-spectrum lamps for true light and I faced a mirror.

I ALSO PURCHASED THE CORPORATE PALLETE WHICH INCLUDES MORE NEUTRALS

I watched as colors were draped across my shoulders that made my face drain of color, or my eyes go glassy. I saw warm colors make my complexion turn sallow. I saw the colors that made it appear I was wearing lipstick and saw what harmonized with me.

Terry explained that sure, she could make my red blotches fade, but when they did, they came at a price. The fact is, I do have red blotches on my face, and colors that make them fade, also drain other colors from my face and turn the outside of my eyebrows orange. The goal of color analysis is to show you which colors look best on you because they harmonize with you…they should not change you.

You might enjoy my discussion with Christine Scanman and Jourunn Hernes on their color podcast last week. You can listen here. These gals are so talented, I think you’ll enjoy the podcast. I tune in every month.

Laura Geller

Have you tried the line? It’s a vegan-friendly, gluten-free line designed by NYC makeup artist, Laura Geller. They’ve decided to exclusively feature women ages 40+ and sent me some products for an Instagram campaign.

CULT CLASSIC FACE KIT

The foundation, blush, and concealer are all baked so you apply them with a swirl of the kabuki brush. I was surprised with the coverage but more surprised at the colors. They sent me their Cult Classic Full-Face Kit, which is not what I ordinarily choose for my coloring, but they blended beautifully and have me intrigued to try other things in the line. Have you tried Laura Geller?

Many women consider this kit a full-face of makeup, but I added my tinted brow gel in ‘Ash Blonde’, soft gray eyeliner in ‘Alloy’, and favorite mascara to complete the look. The line is quite extensive and sold lots of places.

A Note-

You will continue to see me style many colors that don’t flatter me because I style clothes for you, not me. This is not a diary of what Jennifer wears…although I do share that too 🙂 My blog is a service for you, no matter what season you are, or what colors you like to wear.

I never discuss religion, sex, or politics on this blog, but I need to say how terribly saddened we are by what’s happening in Ukraine.

My friend Annie at Most Lovely Things mentioned the charity she has donated to and after checking their status on Charity Navigator, I decided to donate to World Central Kitchen here as well. It’s an amazing organization!

“WCK responds to natural disasters, man-made crises, and humanitarian emergencies around the world. We’re a team of food first responders, mobilizing with the urgency of now to get meals to the people who need them most. Deploying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real-time, we know that a nourishing meal in a time of crisis is so much more than a plate of food—it’s hope, it’s dignity, and it’s a sign that someone cares. “

BTW-Charity Navigator is the world’s largest and most-utilized independent nonprofit evaluator that rates charities using over 27 metrics to evaluate them on a scale of one to four stars. World Central Kitchen has been ranked 4 stars which is the top score.

Thanks for reading ladies and remember to hug those you love.
