Daily Looks: Week Ending 3.26.22
Back when we were living in Denver, this time of year was no different than January, and February. Heck, in fact, March and April tended to be our snowiest months. So it has been nicer than nice to have actual spring weather where I can bare an occasional body part.
I am not sure this is my favorite look ever, but seriously, how do we know if we don’t try something different occasionally?
It just goes to show that even when the proportions are “right” (my top is 2/3 and the skirt is 1/3), that doesn’t automatically mean you’ll love the look.
The a-line casual skirt is from Old Navy, but I thrifted it from a local store.
Then I incorporated some print mixing with the sweater vest from Belong Lifestyle USA and brown zebra top.
The turquoise accessories were the cherry on top. Both the earrings and one of the bracelets are from my friend Sally Hoffman’s designs. Definitely give her fabulous site a look.
It’s one of my favorite challenges to show the same outfit with multiple shoe choices. In fact, I wrote an entire post about it once and categorized the options by classic style, colorful style, and modern style, among more.
REMEMBER, there is no “right” choice. It all depends on your mood and what you want to say. Can you guess what I ended up wearing?
So here is a plaid tunic with my faux leather leggings (seen styled here 5 different ways) along with a furry shacket (can you tell it was a 70-degree day, haha? Cold by AZ standards)
I did include an up-close photo of my earrings at the beginning of the post because I’ve had them since college. They were a gift from my roommate from when she went to Venice.
Insider tip: Don’t have a cool belt buckle? Then make your own. I added this heart pendant to my wide-elastic belt (it’s actually turned around so the “real” buckle is in the back). The pendant is fastened through the elastic with a stud/post earring.
This beautiful cardigan with the waterfall front panels was originally one of my friends in Denver, but she didn’t want it. It’s like having a scarf attached to the sweater (almost like Lesley did here).
The back is very fitted and so are the sleeves, but the front is a silkier material and flowy.
Then I wore my green pants which always remind me of spring. Especially since one of the spring trends is these “punchy colors (discussed in my Spring Trends post).
Mules are my favorite spring shoe because I haven’t YET started painting my toenails, but it’s warm enough to expose my foot.
I bought these shoes for a collaboration with Savers (seen on Instagram here). They aren’t super-duper comfy, so I’m not sure I’ll keep them. But if I get rid of them, I’ll donate them at DSW to get points.
I was inspired by my friend, Kathrine, and her new top she just wore here.
My version is actually a floral top (that I just bought from one of my favorite online secondhand boutiques called Gild the Lily). Then I layered it over a bomber jacket that I’ve had for years.
Here’s the proof of me wearing the jacket 7 years ago.
I decided to pair them with my sweater shorts. At first, I wore my turquoise/purple ankle boots, but when I took the selfie, they seemed too dark for the look.
Therefore I switched out to these rose gold booties.
Insider tip: Take a selfie of your outfit daily. It’s amazing how different it can look as opposed to in your mirror.
I still wore accessories but kept them more subtle than normal. Clear and gold earrings and a sparkly necklace that I shortened with my clear elastic bands (found on Amazon).
Do I look somewhat professional? I’m going with my mom to her yearly doctor’s appointment, and I always like to look professional when going to a professional office. I think it shows respect to the person you’re seeing.
These pants are actually the ones I wore for a casual outfit for exploring recently. Do you see how easy it is to change them from the office to a casual day?
BTW, both the top and pants are from Savers from a recent collaboration shown here on Instagram.
I probably wouldn’t have been this colorful when I was working, but now I believe in dressing to showcase my personality.
Notice the brooch on my jacket?? Since I didn’t wear a necklace, I thought that was an easy way to add some “extra” to my look. (Extra is my word for the year).
And the fabulous shoulder-skimming earrings were made by my friend, Judy. Again not something I’d wear while I was practicing dentistry, but it works now!!
I’ve had these shoes for ages (seen here as my floral piece) and yes, I’m wearing my ultra-low Sheec socks.
Insider tip: If you like to layer, but hate tucking in 2 tops like would be the case with this example, Halftees are fabulous. So with this look, I only have to tuck in the pink cami because the halftee stops right under my bra.
Even though the skirt is “tweed” it’s a lightweight material which works great for this weather.
I wore my brogue shoes and even wore ankle socks with them. Inspiration for that was from a reader who said she’s been wearing colorful socks and my girl crush on Instagram, Sabra. Granted, my socks aren’t colorful, but I will have to remedy that.
