INSIDE THE DRESSING ROOM WITH TALBOTS SPRING STYLES
It’s been a long time since I made the trip to do a Talbot’s Inside The Dressing Room try-on haul. I talked my daughter into stopping when we were on our way home from The Biltmore Estates, and she made the process so much easier. While I was changing, she got the outfit ready for me to put on. Then she hung up the one I had just taken off as I put on the next outfit. She also took the photos for me, so there isn’t a phone in the middle of the image from taking a selfie in the mirror.
She doesn’t believe in taking a ton of photos, so you’ll only get one or two photos of each outfit, which is probably enough. Also, Talbots has a 25% off your entire purchase, so I was scrambling to get these to you to save you some moolah. Let’s start with this Spring Leaf and Indigo V-Neck Sweater. This is a great-fitting sweater, and I love the contrasting trim around the hem, sleeves, and neckline. The sweater is also available in black and white for those who love a classic color combination. I’m wearing a medium, and it runs true to size.
Here is a view of the sweater’s length which hits me at the hip. The Straight Leg jeans are a light/medium wash. I loved the way they felt and how they looked, but they were a little big on me. I’m wearing an 8, which is my usual size in Talbots jeans and pants, but these must run a tiny bit big.
I even had my daughter take a photo to remember they ran large and remember to get a smaller size since I wanted them to come home with me.
I LOVE this Orchid Mist Hooded Anorak! The color is dreamy, and I like how a practical coat can also look cute and stylish. I’m not entirely sure the difference between a parka, a raincoat, a trench, and an anorak. I even looked it up, and I’m still not sure there is a huge difference, other than some will have an attached hood.
This Anorak is longer, and I like that. I don’t want the back of me getting wet as I’m running in or out of a store. The drawstring waist is also handy to keep the anorak adjusted for your size. Also, do you see all those pockets?!?
Here is a view from the back to give you a better idea of the length.
The anorak just matched the next outfit that I was trying on, and look how cute they look together. You would almost think that I planned that. Hmmm. 🤔
Paisley is a print that always grabs my attention, and this color combination sent me over the moon. Before you even ask, yes, this top came home with me. The Pleated Ruffle Popover Top is feminine looking without looking like a little girl. It is 100% cotton, so it is machine washable, which I am looking for. I tucked it in so you could see the top of these jeans, but you can see the shirttail length in the pictures below.
Here is a view of the length in the back. I am wearing a large, but it was too big for me, so I exchanged it for a medium. The Slim Ankle Jeans in Sea Salt Blue are super cute for Spring and Summer. They also come in a couple of other colors, and the Hot Pink and Lemon Chiffon are calling my name. I don’t know why bright yellow is suddenly a color that I love, but that goes to show you that we are constantly changing, so don’t be afraid to try something new.
I’m wearing a size 8 in these jeans, and they fit me great. You can see how long the popover is in the front if you choose to let it hand loose.
Punch Pink is the name of the color of the Bateau Neck Tee that I am wearing. This bateau neckline isn’t as wide as some, so even those wide broad shoulders could probably wear this one. This tee is 100% Pima Cotton, so it feels great against your skin. It is a nice weight also, not too thick and not too thin. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits great. It is a slim fit, but it doesn’t run small.
Here is a look from the back, and you might notice that this is a different top. More on that below. Can you see me drooling over these Relaxed Chino Shorts? I LOVE everything about these shorts. The colors are gorgeous, the print is beautiful, the 7″ length works perfectly for me, and they have pockets!!! My only issue is that they are too big for me. I am wearing a size 8, but I need a 6 probably because they are a relaxed fit.
If you like warm, soft, and cozy styles, then you are going to love this Button Detail Funnel Neck Pullover! I’m wearing Punch Pink again, but the Cyan Blue would have matched these shorts perfectly. Occasionally I will buy something for the comfort level, more than the style level, and that is the case with this top. It is so soft it is unreal, and I knew it was coming home with me. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
The Sunset-looking Ombre Sweater was way cuter on than I would have thought. I initially passed by it, and my daughter brought it to my attention. It looks beautiful with my faux-tan, which lets you know how it will look later this Spring. Unfortunately, this color has sold out, but a purple and green version is still available. I am wearing a medium.
Here is the length of the sweater in case you decide to buy the purple/green sweater. Also, this gives you a good look at how the Cyan Blue Chatham Ankle Pants look from the back. These have a 29″ inseam, which hits at my ankle bone. The pants have two welt pockets in the back but none in the front. The pants fit and look great, and they come in several colors. I’m wearing a size 8, and they fit perfectly.
I love the look of this Embroidered Denim Shift Dress. This is another one of those deceptive items that look better on than you think they will. The dress is sleeveless, but you can pair it with a cardigan or jacket, and it has a side zip. I’m wearing a size 12, but it is a bit loose, so a 10 would have worked better.
I grabbed this Twill Field Jacket as I walked by it and decided to throw it on over the shift dress. I would probably wear the jacket more with jeans or chinos, but the dress works too. Lol!
Here is a view of the length in the back, and it hits me right at my hips. This Sagebrush color is nice, and it will work for Fall also, but there is also a muted pink and rattan jacket available if this green color isn’t your favorite. I’m wearing a large jacket, which fits fine, especially if you intend to wear it over a lightweight sweater.
This black Crewneck Sweater says c’est la vie, which is French for “that’s life,” or “such is life.” I don’t speak French, so I’ll take the internet’s word for it. But, I speak “softness,” and this sweater has plenty of that. The feel of this sweater is high-end, and it looks as good as it feels. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits like it was made for me.
Here is the length of the sweater from the back. The White Stovepipe Jeans are wide straight-leg jeans, but they aren’t huge like some wide-leg pants. I also like that they are a cropped length, and the inseam is 26″. These fit well, and I am wearing an 8 in them.
I love Tulips, and this Ruffle Trim Popover is covered in them. The colors are fun and lively against the darker navy background. This top has only a small ruffle at the neckline, so even ladies who don’t care for ruffles can wear this top.
Here is the back view to gauge the length of the top. I am wearing the same Cyan Blue Chatham Ankle Pants as above, so the sizing and fit are the same.
This pink and coral Smocked Floral Blouse is so pretty in person. I love the smocking at the neckline and sleeves, and I think the split neck detail is a nice touch. This is one of those blouses that can be dressed up or down, and I can see wearing this with a jean jacket and chinos.
I like the look from the back as much as I do from the front. Look how the smocked neckline creates pleats. I’m wearing a large, but I ended up sizing down since it was a little big on me. I decided to add the Hampshire Ankle Pant in Coral Punch to the look for a dressier outfit. These pants are incredibly nice, and they are a great weight. They are straight-leg pants and have a flat front. I was shocked to see that they are machine washable, which is a plus. I’m wearing an 8, and they fit me great.
This Floral Fit & Flare Dress is beautiful! The print and colors are perfect for Spring, and the style is very feminine. I love the ruffle tier hem and how it gives the dress some movement. A v-neckline is always my favorite, as well as the 3/4 length sleeve. I think both of those details are flattering to most body shapes.
Here is the view from the back to see the length and the smocking at the neck. The smocking creates those gorgeous pleats like the coral blouse above. I am wearing a medium, and it is a little tight through the elastic waist. Usually, I wear a large in dresses, so the dress runs true to size.
This Girlfriend Cardigan has a pale blue stripe that runs its length and around the cuffs. The cardigan is a nice length and hits me just a little bit past my hips. I love green this year, so I decided to grab this color, but the cardigan also comes in several other colors, including a pretty pink and vibrant blue.
Here is the back view for the length, and you can also see the side vent.
