Monday Musings- Pop of Color
Happy Monday, ladies. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Bare Minerals lipstick. They’re a vegan, hydrating lipstick that’s heavily pigmented in a range of nature-inspired shades, from fresh-picked reds, blooming pinks, sunset corals, earthy nudes, and juicy berries.
My first lipstick shade was Grace, which is one of their softest nude pinks. It’s not sheer and provides great coverage.
I moved on to Romance which is a blushing peony. Around Christmas, I tried Courage, which is classic red, but I’ve never been a fan of red on me and just couldn’t get used to seeing me in it.
Here’s when I tried out red lipstick and what I found-Red Lipstick: The Edit for Fair Complexions
Since the light feels brighter here in Mexico, and the sun is certainly stronger, my paler lipsticks feel washed out and I find myself reaching for this Wisdom shade, which is a bright orchid. It’s impossible to get an accurate idea of how these colors really look, so I tested them on my arm here to show you. Boy, was that fun to clean off…not!
You can see how much brighter the Wisdom looks than the other pinks.
The Joy is candy pink. The Confidence is a pink carnation. Creativity is a ripe watermelon. Wisdom is a bright orchid. Not every store carries all the colors, so I shop around. Who knows if it will feel too bright when I get home, but for now I am loving it.
How’s this crossbody for a pop of color? My daughter pointed out the Kurt Geiger bags last Christmas, but they were each in one bright solid color which seemed too much for me. Now, this rainbow bag doesn’t. They embellish these bags with a signature crystal-embellished eagle head inspired by a jewel-encrusted vintage ring belonging to the company’s Creative Director.
The sneakers are slightly lower profile but equally bright and if you’re not a fan of stripes, they come with colorful hearts. Can you see these with white jeans and a blue top like this?
What’s your comfort level with wearing bright pops of color?
