THIS OR THAT – CLASSIC BLACK AND WHITE

Even though I am a color-loving gurl, that doesn’t mean that I don’t also love wearing black and white. Black and white is a classic color combination that is always appropriate, and it is a choice you can fall on when you don’t know what to wear.

Today, I’m bringing you TWO gorgeous black and white looks, and you get to vote on which is your favorite, or what you could see yourself wearing. THIS is going to be this white eyelet top and black jeans with a frayed hem.

Is there anything more summery than white eyelet? This color and pattern combination looks crisp and clean, and I’ve always loved a white eyelet sundress for summer. This white top is great since the eyelet is only on the sleeves, which keeps from having peek-a-boo holes through the body of the top. I’m wearing a 1 and the top fits me great. There are also other colors to choose from, navy would be my second choice.

Here is the side photo which shows the length of the top in the back. It isn’t “legging” length, but it is decently long.

Black jeans with a white top are one of my favorite looks in the summer. It is casual looking but very chic at the same time. These So Slimming Girlfriend Frayed Ankle Jeans are perfect for almost everyone. Those who love distressing will love the frayed hem, and those who don’t like distressing will find the small frayed hem a way to look modern without the holes.

Now, it is time for the THAT outfit. I’ve had a lot of messages from ladies who are having to attend funerals. While that is not a subject that we often talk about, it is an event that we all have to attend periodically. Black is still the color of choice for funerals, however, any dark and somber color is acceptable. Navy, maroon, or charcoal gray are a few color options that come to mind that would be fine to wear to a funeral.

Black is a wonderful color that can be somber enough for a funeral but also classy and chic enough to attend a black-tie affair. I do think that everyone needs a black dress in their closet for the unexpected events that pop up.

This black traveler Classic Tank Dress would be perfect for almost any event that calls for a dress. I love that the dress is a tank style so that I can wear it under a cardigan, blazer, jacket, etc., and you don’t have to worry about having the sleeve bunch up under them. Also, this is part of the Traveler’s Collection, and that means that you won’t arrive at your event in a wrinkled mess. I am wearing a size 1, and it fits me perfectly!

My daughter was taking photos for me, and she told me to hold my arms out so that you could see the print of the Ruana Wrap I’m wearing. I wasn’t doing it correctly, so she said, “act like your a scarecrow.” Wonderful, I’m now a scarecrow! After I complained at the imagery, she said, “alright, be Snow White instead and call for the birds.” Lol!

The Ruana is lightweight which is perfect for spring and summer, but it does offer a tiny bit of warmth. It also hides your upper arms which I know is a problem area for a lot of us older women. Flabby arms are something that most of us experience, and it is hard to tighten this area.

I added the same black and white statement necklace and stretch bracelet to both outfits. The freshwater pearls look gorgeous in both pieces, and these are items that you can wear when you’re wearing jeans or your dressiest outfit. Chico’s has wonderful jewelry, and they have lots of black and white jewelry from which to choose.
