Weekend Notes: Marshalls, salmon and hair
Happy Monday, everyone! Today I have some weekend notes about a return shopping trip to Marshall’s, how I am adding more salmon to our diet and my hair care.
What a fun week this is….St. Patrick’s Day, the official beginning of the Spring Season, and more smiles and silver linings surround us. So, let’s begin with weekend notes!
WEEKEND NOTES: A RETURN TO MARSHALLS
My weekend notes must begin with the first picture of what I wore to go shopping at Marshalls.
All of the pieces have been in my wardrobe for a while: Christopher & Banks Linen jacket; JJILL red knit top; Soft Surroundings Metro Leggings; and an artisan necklace.
I have been ready to return to Marshalls ever since this first spring shopping trip in SHOPPING SPRING AT MARSHALLS.
The combination of the red tank with the olive green pleases me so much, that I believe that is why I reached for this first rain jacket by d.e.t.a.i.l.s, inc..
If this was not a rain jacket, I would have loved to wear it….but, alas, we do not have that much rain!
Jone of New York is the brand for this lovely navy print top. I liked it, but not enough to add it to the mix.
I am keeping an eye out for interesting, creative navy prints…to fit my style adjectives!
This gold top by Tahari is lovely and I so wish it was a better fit on me. With a little more space in the hips, I might have brought this one home.
My Vibrant Autumn palette needs off -white and golds for layering pieces instead of stark white.
Speaking of autumn palette, it is nice to see colors like this top for warmer weather.
I am so sorry that I took it off and forgot to take a photo.
Sometimes we look in the mirror and see that a garment is just not us…but not really know why. That was the case with this top…though it is lovely.
I felt like it was too billowy. I will continue to look for my colors in warmer weather months…it will not take me off my game to look Uniquely Me!
I liked the shackets I wore this past fall/winter, so I have tried on a couple of button-downs going for that look.
This is a fun vintage wash, but just looked like an old shirt over a nice top. So I said NO.
I know many of you like to know the reasons I walk away or even buy certain items.
I did not find anything in clothing that day but noted in my weekend notes are the interesting finds at Marshall’s.
There is always something unique to see there. Leigh Ann said she stopped by another Marshall’s location last week and found the perfect pair of pants!
It is always a great place to have some fun and see what unique items are on the market.
WEEKEND NOTES: SALMON
Mr. B and I were pretty good about eating salmon at least once a week for the nutritional value.
However, I am trying to increase our intake to 2-3 times a week…for the nutritional value.
That means I need to cook more and be creative.
The baked salmon from this weekend was super easy….brushed it with olive oil; squeezed 1/2 lemon over each piece; sprinkled with garlic salt and one minced garlic on each; laid on top chopped onion and yellow bell peppers.
Then sprinkled Italian seasoning across the top and baked for 25 minutes until flaky at 450.
The butternut squash dish in the front is also super easy.
In a bowl, I placed the cubed squash and even threw in some zucchini and yellow squash slices.
Added one chopped yellow onion.
Sprinkled two teaspoons of Kashmir Garam Masala. This Indian spice is aromatic, rich and flavorful.
Stirred it together and bake at 450 for 45 minutes.
The other veggie mix was a variety of roasted veggies with broccoli as the star!
WEEKEND NOTES: HAIR
A couple of ladies have asked that I explain how I get my hair to look this way…so once again, here is the process.
My hair naturally does this…for now, no flat irons, curling irons or hair dryers.
However, I use several top quality products to ensure it will not frizz in the humidity and will stay this way for several days.
I understand these products are pricey, however, when you only wash once a week, they last a long time.
I wash it with GK Hair Global Keratin Moisturizing Shampoo and follow that in the shower with GK Hair Global Keratin Deep Conditioner Masque.
Once out of the shower, I towel it off and then spray it with KERASTASE Elixir (smells so good!); and work in with my fingers REDKEN FRIZZ DISMISS.
My hairbrush sits idle wondering what happened to me…I only use my fingers now…no hairbrush.
In between shampoos, I will wet it down, add the Redken Frizz Dismiss, and for pictures top off with a little Kerastase Oil Spray….so it looks shiny!
Finally, I do go for a color touch up and trim once a month….my hair grows pretty fast.
I hope that helps those who were seeking the information…it has been a huge change for me and honestly one I did not think I would do…but so much easier to embrace the curls for now.
Those are the WEEKEND NOTES, ladies….thank you for joining with me today…I will have a fun little giveaway for you tomorrow, so make sure you stop by…and always….
KEEP SMILING!!
