Here’s When Stranger Things Is Coming Back for Season 4, Part 2

The ever-so-loyal fans of Stranger Things waited almost three full years to get another season of Netflix’s crossover horror nostalgia smash. And now that the much-awaited season has landed with seven supersized episodes… it’s time to get back into waiting mode. This time, though, the wait won’t be nearly as long. What’s that sound you’re hearing? Oh, it’s just Stranger Things fans collectively breathing a big sigh of relief.

Back in February, The Duffer Brothers revealed in a public letter that Season 4 of Stranger Things turned out to be their most ambitious yet—and also made for the largest undertaking. “With nine scripts, over eight-hundred pages, almost two years of filming, thousands of visual effects shots, and a runtime nearly twice the length of any previous season, Stranger Things 4 was the most challenging season yet, but also the most rewarding one,” they wrote. “Given the unprecedented length, and to get it to you as soon as possible, Season 4 will be released in two volumes.”

The Duffers also revealed that the end of Stranger Things is in their sights. While they had too much story left to just wrap everything up in Season 4—hence the supersizing of the season—things would be coming to a close with Season 5. Whenever that might happen.

But let’s not speculate too much on that just now. We’ve still got Season 4 to finish up, and some monsters to see defeated.

Season 4, Volume 2 of Stranger Things will debut on July 1—and only include 2 episodes.

In that same letter, The Duffer Brothers revealed that two summer holiday weekends—Memorial Day Weekend and the 4th of July—would mark the big days for our friends from Hawkins, Indiana. “Volume One will release on May 27th; Volume Two will release five weeks later on July 1st,” they wrote.

We know most of you will probably be binging through those Volume One episodes in just a couple of days, but those five weeks give all the not-obsessive-but-still-into-it Stranger Things fans a good amount of time to get through those lengthy first seven episodes—just in time for an even lengthier final two installments.

Yep, that’s right: lengthier. While most of the Season 4, Volume 1 episodes are around 1 hour and 15 minutes long (stuffed by any television measure), episode 7 lands at 1 hour and 38 minutes long.

The two episodes in Volume 2 will keep that same energy: Episode 8 is going to be 1 hour and 25 minutes, and the Episode 9 finale will be a staggering 2 hours and 30 minutes.

So make sure you’re caught up and ready to get locked in for even more Stranger Things—because these running times will put a stranglehold on your personal calendar.
