MOTHER’S DAY, GRADUATION, OR A SPRING WEDDING LOOKS
If you stopped by the blog expecting to see a Hit or Miss post, I didn’t have one ready, so we are doing a This or That post instead. One of the first lessons I learned when I started blogging was to be consistent, but in life, I’ve also learned to be willing to adapt. Things can’t always be written stone since stone can crumble. Most of my “rules” are actually suggestions, and I like it that way. That goes for my life as well as my blog, and it keeps me from getting upset when things don’t go as planned.
I remember my DIL stressing over every detail of her wedding. She is a perfectionist, and I say, “that’s good enough.” Many things didn’t go as planned on her wedding day. Some things were tragic, some were funny, and some were insignificant. In the end, she was still married, and the wedding was beautiful. Of course, we wish we could go back and change things, but you can only go forward with what you’ve been given. We all need to learn to roll with the punches, or we will find ourselves on the ground more than we would like.
Mother’s Day, wedding season, and graduations are all events that happen in May. Most of us will wear a dress or skirt to one of those events, so I thought I’d share a couple of looks that would be great for them. THIS outfit is a Linen Popover top and a Lemon Print Skirt. Most of the time, when I go to these types of events, I get hot. The rooms can be crowded, and you might be bunched up against each other, so I like to wear something that will keep me cool. Linen is an excellent fabric for keeping you cool, and this fabric has come a long way in the wrinkling department. Most linen items will still wrinkle, but nowadays, they don’t usually look like you slept in them. Lol! I like how this top can be worn with a skirt and look polished, but it can also be worn with slacks and jeans for a more casual look. I’m wearing a medium, and the top fits great.
Here is a look at the curved hem, and you can see the length of the top. Below are two examples of how you could wear this top in a casual setting for every day.
I kept my jewelry simple for this outfit. The Medallion Hoop Earrings are smaller than I usually wear, but I know that everyone doesn’t like big oversized earrings. These are smaller, but they still make a statement. The Nautical Stripe Link Necklace in gold adds to the outfit without taking away from the skirt, which is the star of this look. Everything is a supporting character to the main star, the skirt.
If you attend an event that stretches into the night, you might like to add a jacket to keep you warm. This Classic Denim Jacket in a sandy wash is an essential fashion item you will wear for years with almost everything. I love this darker color, especially since most of my denim jackets are a medium or light wash. The darker color looks dressier and helps an outfit look polished. I’m wearing a medium, and it fits me great.
Now, for the star of this outfit. The Canvas A-Line Skirt in Lemon Blossom is so pretty! The material is heavyweight, and the skirt is so well made. Lemons are one of those prints that make me smile; I consider them happy prints. I am always trying to find ways to create curves since I am built like a ruler, and an A-Line skirt is flattering for my body shape. The skirt gradually gets larger at the bottom, making my waist appear smaller. This skirt would look great worn with white, navy, green, and yellow. I have a bright yellow cardigan that I plan on trying with this skirt.
Now, for the THAT outfit. I stuck with the yellow theme, but I chose a dress instead of a skirt for this look. Dresses are so easy since they are a one-and-done outfit. You don’t have to worry if this matches that or pick several different items. You have one choice to make, and then you only have to add accessories.
This Lemon Chiffon Floral Dress is flirty, cutesy, feminine, and perfect for Spring and Summer. This is a lightweight dress, but it is lined, so it isn’t see-through. The smocking at the arms isn’t tight; I hate tight arms, so this is great. The waist is elastic, and I usually wouldn’t wear the attached tie-belt, but I wanted to show you that it came with one. I prefer wearing a wide elastic belt because I am terrible at getting the tie belts to stay in place. This dress is a medium, but it was tough for me to put on, so I think that I would be happier with a large.
Look at the flounce hem! I think that is such a feminine detail, and it looks beautiful in the wind. I forgot to mention that the dress has pockets, and that is always a plus in my book.
I added my Butterfly Drop Earrings, but these Lemon Drop Earrings would have been adorable with the outfit. I also have on my Cross Necklace in 18 Kt. Gold Vermeil and the Elaina Beaded Stretch Bracelet. The matching necklace to the bracelet has already sold out on Kendra Scott’s website, but I found it here for you.
My white and neutral espadrille wedge heels are old, and I’ve had them for years. I thought the dress needed a heel, and I wanted to keep it in a neutral shade. I’ll try to find some shoes that I think will look good with this dress, and I’ll link them below.
What event do you have coming up? Let me know so I can possibly do a post on clothing for it. Also, which outfit could you see yourself wearing; This or That?

Verse Of The Day
2 Corinthians 12:9
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
