Restyling A Mannequin- It’s Not Pajamas

Happy Thursday ladies. These restyling posts only happen when a mannequin really grabs my attention. To be honest, many mannequin outfits are uninspiring but some need help and those I try to restyle. My expression says it all with this one.

Today’s outfit caught my eye because I thought I was looking at a sweet pajama set until I got close enough to notice the necklace. Part of my thinking may have been because of the print, and I recognize that personal bias, but I do think this would be a tough pairing to pull off.

WEAREVER CAP SLEEVE TEE  /  WEAREVER FULL-LEG SHORTS  /  LAPIS PENDANT NECKLACE

Here I am wearing what the mannequin is modeling.

TOP IN MISSES M  /  SHORTS IN MISSES M

Both the shorts and top are at least one size too large for me so I think they’re selling well, although I’m not sure if ladies are wearing them together. The shorts are pretty cute with a flattering full-leg that gives the appearance of a skort. The top has a cap sleeve but it’s not a separate sleeve, just an extension of the body so it’s got a dolman type shaping under the arm.

Apparently, everyone is stocking up on white jeans because the stock was low in my store. I was trying to see what the loose top would look like with these slim jeans but failed because these are several sizes too large for me. I think this would look cute together in sizes that fit. You could also tuck or half tuck the tee.

WEAREVER WIDE-LEG CROPS IN MISSES S

Then I tried tucking the top into these wide-leg crops. I liked this pairing because the dark bottom anchors and helps balance the pattern of the top.

LINEN AND COTTON EMBROIDERED ANORAK JACKET IN MISSES S

Then I topped it with this linen and cotton embroidered anorak jacket that my friend Joan mentioned she had in her cart. I like that the jacket gives some structure to the outfit, but still has a casual feel and it hides the excess fabric in the sleeve area of the tee.

FULL-LEG SHORTS IN MISSES M  / TANK IN MISSES S  / MISSES CARDIGAN IN MISSES S

I went back to the full-leg shorts because they’re a great shape for the summer and so comfy. I paired them with a wearever a-line sleeveless tank top in navy and topped it with this organic cotton wearever cardigan which ties the two pieces together.

Footnote on fit-

  • the shorts come in misses, petite, and women’s sizes XS-4X. I am wearing the misses in medium and would need the XS so they run true to size. The inseam measurements are 6″ in misses, 5 1/2″ in petite, and 7″ in womens. They are available in 3 solids and 3 prints.

What are your thoughts?

Thumbs up on the print-on-print combination?

Thanks for reading and remember to wear what makes you feel confident.
