Olivia Wilde Responds to Claims That She Left Her Partner for Harry Styles
Olivia Wilde has spoken out about rumours over her relationship with Harry Styles.
The Don’t Worry Darling director was engaged to Ted Lasso star Jason Sudeikis, with the pair sharing children Daisy and Otis.
However, the couple split in November 2020. Two months later she was pictured holding hands with the former One Direction star.
It caused rumors that Wilde’s seven-year engagement had ended due to her meeting Styles.
“The complete horseshit idea that I left Jason for Harry is completely inaccurate,” she told Vanity Fair.
“Our relationship was over long before I met Harry. Like any relationship that ends, it doesn’t end overnight.
“Unfortunately, Jason and I had a very bumpy road, and we officially dissolved the relationship towards the beginning of the pandemic.
“We were raising two kids during lockdown, so we co-parented through that time. Once it became clear that cohabitating was no longer beneficial for the children, it became the responsible thing to not, because we could be better parents as friends who live in different houses.”
She also responded to rumors the relationship caused her to be distracted from her duties on set.
“The idea that I had five seconds in the day to be distracted by anything is laughable,” she added.
“I was there before everyone. I was there after everyone. And it was a dream. It’s not like this work was not enjoyable. It was just all-encompassing.”
While Wilde was presenting at Cinema-Con earlier this year, she was served legal papers from her ex while on stage.
Discussing the move, she said: “I hated that this nastiness distracted from the work of so many different people and the studio that I was up there representing. To try to sabotage that was really vicious. But I had a job to do. I’m not easily distracted.
“But, you know, sadly, it was not something that was entirely surprising to me. I mean, there’s a reason I left that relationship.”
At the time, a source close to Sudeikis told Digital Spy: “Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis.
“Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner.”
