Saying Goodbye To The Past And Looking To The Future
Today we start a new year; it’s a good time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future with hope and anticipation. This is an excellent time to shake the dust from our feet and enter the coming year without baggage from the previous year. As Christians, we can find inspiration and guidance in the Bible as we set our hearts and minds on the things of God.
Psalm 103:2-5 – “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
This passage reminds us of the many blessings that God has given us and the ways in which He has shown us his love and mercy. As we begin a new year, we can give thanks to God for all that He has done for us and look to Him for guidance and strength as we face whatever challenges may come our way.
Isaiah 43:18-19 – “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
Sometimes it can be easy to get caught up in the past and allow old habits and patterns to hold us back. But God is always doing a new thing in our lives, and He is able to bring new life and hope even in the most challenging circumstances. As we enter the new year, we can trust in God’s promise to make a way for us and to bring new things to fruition in our lives.
Philippians 3:13-14 – “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
As we look to the future, it’s important to remember that our ultimate goal is to follow Christ and to live for his glory. We can’t change the past, but we can choose to let go of it and focus on the things that matter most. This passage encourages us to press on towards the prize of Christ, setting our sights on the things of God and striving to live for Him every day.
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
This is one of my favorite Bible verses. Trusting in God can be difficult at times, especially when we don’t understand what He is doing or why things are happening the way they are. But this passage reminds us that when we trust in God and seek to follow Him, He will guide us and lead us on the right path. As we enter the new year, we can put our trust in God and seek to follow Him in all that we do.
I hope these verses are a source of encouragement and inspiration as you look ahead to the new year. May God bless you and keep you as you seek to follow Him in the days ahead.
To God Goes The Glory!
Have A Blessed Day!
