The Most Comfortable Bras for Women Over 60
Last week I mentioned in this post that I recently donated my older bras and how these are my current favorites. But, that got me to thinking about what other options are out there. Luckily, I asked the AWSL community for your recommendations, and I got a lot of helpful feedback. This inspired me to dive a little bit deeper into the ones you suggested and begin the search for the best and most comfortable bras for women over 60.
Years ago, I gave up underwire bras and have not missed them one bit. I am personally not well endowed; however, I know I have readers with chests of all different sizes and preferences. I think we can all agree though that finding a comfortable bra can be tough. Things aren’t where they used to be, and what you want and need in a bra has likely changed. Whether you are looking to find a supportive bra to lift the girls, a minimizer to help smooth and sculpt, or simply one that just doesn’t hurt to wear, this comprehensive list has a bra for you, no matter your budget or your bust size.
Before you get started though, I want to call out a few things:
- If you haven’t gone in for a professional bra fitting in a year or more, do yourself a favor and get one. It makes all the difference in how your clothes fit and can make you look slimmer also! Nordstrom is a great place to get one, or you can use a store locator here and here.
- If you’re looking to add some new bras to your drawer, consider donating your old ones to women’s shelters. Bras are under-donated and much needed at these places.
Best Wireless Bras for Women Over 60
These are my current favorites, and I recommend them to all of my fellow small busted, underwire haters! They provide up to one inch of lift and support. This bra is buttery soft, smooth and invisible under my clothing, and the v-neck allows me to wear it with a variety of necklines.
Other True & Co Bras I’ve heard good things about:
Next up is this bralette from Sloggi recommended by Eileen. This seamless bra is made of super smooth, multi-stretch fabric developed in Japan. It has wide straps and is invisible under clothing. This one has removable push-up pads inside. The reviews on this one say to size up as they tend to run small.
This one has been circulating on Instagram, and I really want to try it. I’ve seen a lot of influencers of all ages share it and swear by how comfortable it is that they don’t even realize it’s on.
After reading through all the wonderful things customers had to say and seeing a few of you recommend it, I knew I couldn’t leave it off the list. The padding is sewn in, so you don’t want to worry about losing them in the wash, and the smoothing side panels get rid of any underarm rolls or lumps you’re looking to camouflage. I’m putting this one on my list to try, and it’s so affordable at under $20!
From my readers:
- Jan noted that she has bought this brand at Walmart, and they have worked really well for her!
- Sue said that she likes the Warner bras and has bought them at Target. But, as a small B cup, she has started to experience some sagging and switched back to underwire.
If the straps on your bras tend to dig in and bother your shoulders, try this Playtex bra that has wider straps with added cushion. This wire-free bra gives you just the right amount of lift and support for under $17 and has 63,000 4.5-star reviews to prove it! I love the scalloped neckline, and the added pattern is a fun touch. Sizes 36B- 46D.
The Best Underwire Bras for Women Over 60
I’ve heard nothing but wonderful things about this full-coverage, front-clasp bra from Spanx, and it’s also on my list of bras to try! Reviews claim it is super soft and supportive. I love that it has wider straps to prevent the straps from cutting into your shoulders, although I do wish they were adjustable. Sizes 32B-40DD.
A reader of mine, Melissa, said that this is her go-to everyday bra, and I’m planning to give it a try.
You’ve likely seen a Soma store at the mall or even seen me share about their sleepwear before. It’s a great option if you want to try it on in person and have someone help you.
Soma interviewed 1,500 women about their complaints when it comes to bras while they were designing this Bodify t-shirt bra. The solution is this best-seller that has a patent pending Floataway Wire™ that moves with you and clever Get a Grip strap that are designed to stay put. I really like the added breathable mesh panel in the front, as it’s functional but also adds a little visual interest! Sizes 32B-42DDD.

From my readers:
- Margot shared, “I go to Soma for bras – I am well endowed – but find it has as much to do with the fitter as the brand.”
- Susan had similar comments that she is “well-endowed and has mainly Soma bras that never wear out.”
If you have a larger chest and are looking for comfortable support with wider straps and full coverage, no-spill cups, look no further than this full figure, back smoothing bra. This bra from Vanity Fair comes highly rated and is also available in a wire-free version! Sizes 34G-44DDD.
This bra by Bali is all about comfortable support! The deep plunge of this bra makes it perfect for deeper v-neck tops. The other feature I love is the front clasp for easy on and off. It’s definitely worth adding to your arsenal of undergarments. Sizes 34B-42DD.
Other Reader Favorite Bras
Many of you have mentioned that Wacoal makes some of your favorite bras so I went on a major search to find the best ones. Below are a few of the top-rated ones, along with reader comments!
“I like Wacoal bras as well. They are comfortable and hold up very well, No pun intended!” “My favorite bra is Wacoal, and they have a wide variety of styles, and colors.”
Bras for Busty Women
While I mentioned above that I’m not well-endowed, I do have a friend that is. Here are a couple of options that she swears by:
- Third Love 24/7 Perfect Coverage Bra: This one has memory foam straps that don’t dig into your shoulders while still offering full coverage and great support. If you need a t-shirt bra, this one is it. Sizes 3sB-44H.
- Elomi Matilda Full Figure Underwire Plunge Bra: If you’re looking for a minimizing bra that is fit-focused, she recommends this one. She said that she wears these most days. The only thing you have to be careful of is the embroidery can show through on tighter tops and certain fabrics. Sizes 32GG-44GG.
What to Keep in Mind When Shopping for Bras
Bras should provide comfortable support, look smooth under clothes and conceal your nipples (if you’re modest). There are push-up versions to enhance cleavage, T-shirt to smooth and conceal nipples, minimizers to reduce volume, sports bras to prevent movement, demi bras to wear under low-cut tops, racerbacks to wear under halter and tops with close-set straps and on and on. Finding the best bra for you can take trial and error!
A well-rounded wardrobe consists of bras in a variety of colors and styles for your different clothing. The one thing I don’t recommend owning, though, is a white bra. You can find out why in this post!
