What Are The Best Pairs of Women’s Jeans Under $50
I recently did a blog post on What Are The Best Jeans for Women Over 50, and it has quickly become a reader favorite. However, many of the jeans in that post were expensive, and I got several requests to show more budget-friendly alternatives. Today I’m showing you some of the jeans in my closet, plus I’ll also share several retailers that you can check out that carry women’s jeans under $50.
What To Look For When Trying On Jeans
When it comes to finding the perfect pair of women’s jeans under $50, I always recommend trying on multiple sizes and styles to find the best fit. Almost every brand and style fits differently, so don’t get discouraged if you have to try on several pairs before finding the perfect one.
I also suggest paying attention to the rise of the jeans. Low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise options are available, and it’s important to find the most comfortable rise that flatters your body shape. Some people love high-rise jeans to try and hide a muffin top, but others love a med to low-rise jeans because they don’t like the look or feel of jeans over their belly button. Just a heads up…low rises are coming back in style.
Another important factor to consider is stretch. Some jeans have a small amount of stretch, making them more comfortable to wear. If you’re looking for a more comfortable option, I recommend trying on a pair with a bit of stretch.
Regarding leg shape, there are various styles available such as straight leg, skinny, boot cut, and more. I always recommend trying on different leg shapes to see which is most flattering and comfortable for you.
Lastly, don’t forget to pay attention to the jeans’ color, quality, and durability. It’s worth noting that not all expensive jeans are of good quality and not all jeans under $50 are of poor quality. It is always best to read reviews, check the fabric and construction, and try different styles before purchasing.
Retailers That Carry Women’s Jeans Under $50
Banana Republic Factory
I’m styling all these jeans with the same blue cashmere tee I bought last year. It has sold out, but I linked to this one, which is almost identical but in a slightly darker shade of blue. I bought it in black, ivory, and dark gray, and I recommend sizing it up. I ordered a medium, but I just returned them for larges instead. By the way, it is on sale for $44.90, so you can’t go wrong.
Even though these jeans say low-rise, they aren’t the butt crack showing kind. This is one of my favorite pairs of jeans, and they remind me a lot of the Spanx Flare Jeans and the Joe’s Jeans Bootcut Jeans, but at a much lower price. These are 50% off, so they are at a great price.
Everyone wants to see what jeans look like from the back, so I tried to grab a rear photo with all the jeans.
And a side photo also. I’m wearing a size 28 in the jeans since these are the curvy style. If they were the regular cut, I might need to size up to a 29.
I did a large cuff on these jeans, but you can do a smaller cuff or no cuff at all. I love the relaxed fit of these jeans, and think they look great with heels or sneakers. I’m wearing a size 29, and it fits perfectly.
Banana Republic Factory has a wide variety of women’s jeans under $50, and I love the quality.
Nordstrom Carries Women’s Jeans Under $50
Some might be surprised to learn that Nordstrom carries women’s jeans under $50. Here is how you find them without wasting hours looking at jeans. Go to Nordstrom, click on Women, scroll down to jeans and denim, then filter by price. I selected $0-$50, and 488 selections came up. Some of them might not have your size, but there are plenty to choose from.
These wide-leg jeans aren’t under $50; they are $59. I found this brand in the summer, and they seem like great quality, and the prices are affordable. Most of their jeans are under $50 without being on sale; you can check out their styles here.
Wide-legged pants conceal the shape of your legs, so they’re great for camouflaging heavy thighs. They won’t make you look heavier than you are if you get the proportions right. I love wide-leg pants because they add balance to my broad shoulders. They are also great at adding an element of drama to my outfits.
If you are interested, I wrote a post – I’M OVER 50 AND WEARING WIDE-LEG JEANS– showing you several different looks wearing wide-leg jeans. Some of these might be out of stock, let me know if you’d like me to do a post update.
I love these NYDJ jeans! I have them in this light wash, which is on sale for under $50, and also a medium wash pair. NYDJ jeans are created with a mature woman in mind, so they seem to fit better than most jeans. These fit great, have enough stretch but don’t bag, and look amazing on. Grab a pair while you can get them at such a great price.
Don’t Forget Dillards For Women’s Jeans Under $50
I sometimes forget about shopping at Dillard’s. They have a great selection, and I’ve bought a lot of clothing, shoes, and bags from them over the years. So, I’m not sure why I forget to check them out when shopping.
These jeans are on sale for $56.40, lightly over the $50 mark. But I wanted to include them because I love the Kut From The Kloth brand. This brand’s jeans typically sell for around 90-100 dollars, so finding them on sale is a big deal. They show these jeans online with the hem cuffed, but I like them also uncuffed.
Walmart
I’ve bought a lot of jeans from Walmart, and they have all held up well through multiple washings. The brands I purchase the most because of the quality are Time and Tru, Free Assembly, Scoop, and Sofia Vergara.
I’ve had these jeans for a long time, and they still look and fit fabulous. The Free Assembly line is a great quality line; some of their shirts and sweaters are too thick for me. I love the dark wash of these jeans, and you can see that they haven’t faded.
These wide-leg crop utility jeans in dark gray are so soft. They have quite a bit of stretch, and they almost flow when you walk. I’ve had a lot of compliments when wearing these jeans, and no one can believe they came from Walmart. They also come in a medium wash, which would look cute this summer with sneakers.
Old Navy
Did you see my last What To Wear From Old Navy When You’re Over 50 post? It had a lot of jeans in it, as well as a few shirts and tees. Old Navy has always been a go-to store for jeans. They have jeans that are trendy at an affordable price, so I can try the latest styles without spending a fortune on them.
I originally bought these vintage black wash jeans in a size 8, but they were too big on me. I returned them for a size 6 thinking they would fit. I didn’t bother to try them on when they arrived; I just hung them in my closet. I’ve gained a few pounds since then, they were tight around the waist, but I managed to get them buttoned. I love these jeans’ color, so I hope to get back into them in a few weeks more comfortably.
This exact pair is down to a few sizes, but I found the same color in a different style.
Kohl’s
Kohl’s is known for offering competitive prices on its products, an appealing option for those looking to save money. Like Walmart, there are certain brands that I shop for from Kohl’s because I can rely on the quality. I shop at Nine West, LC Lauren Conrad, Croft & Barrow, and Draper James RSVP most of the time.
We all need a pair of black jeans in our closet. I LOVE wearing black jeans with a simple white t-shirt in the summer. It looks casual and chic at the same time. This pair fits nicely, has plenty of stretch, and has slits at the hem for boots.
More Women’s Jeans Under $50
There are a lot more pairs of women’s jeans under $50, but I couldn’t order all of them. 😆
Finding the perfect pair of women’s jeans under $50 takes time and patience. But the effort is worth it when you find a pair that makes you look and feel amazing. Happy shopping!
