Using Color To Transition From Winter To Spring

Old Man Winter is putting up quite a fight and doesn’t seem like he is going to cry Uncle any time soon. I’m stubborn, though, and I refuse to dress in drab winter colors, even if it is 20 degrees outside. I love using color to transition from winter to spring, and these outfits will show you how easy this is to do.

This Salmon outfit looks like spring is right around the corner, and that is the point. The weather is not cooperating, so I’ll use color to create a spring feel to my outfits.

Spring is often associated with florals and light pastel colors. I love florals, but I usually prefer more vibrant colors over pastels. Coral or Salmon are warm and vibrant colors that combine pink and orange tones. These popular spring colors represent energy, enthusiasm, and joy.

This plaid coat is perfect for the cooler weather we are still having, but the lovely salmon color print makes me think of spring. This is an ideal way to dress for a colder season while transitioning into a warmer one. I love the look and feel of this coat; it is a nice weight and feels super soft. However, the coat runs big. I’m wearing a medium, and it is way too big on me.

Adding these Salmon Wide-Leg Corduroy Pants will keep me toasty warm as the winter season wanes down. The vibrant color of the pant will keep me happy and looking forward to spring. The pants fit great, and a size 8 was perfect for me.

I wanted to show you how easy it would be to switch out the Salmon corduroy pants once the weather started to warm up. Corduroy can be heavy and hot, and switching them for a lighter pair of jeans will allow you to wear the outfit longer in the spring.

I’m wearing a white V-Neck tee in size large under the coat. I don’t know about you, but I usually need to replace my white tees yearly. They are the workhorse of my wardrobe and are often called into action. But we all know how hard it is to keep white looking good, especially if you are like me and tend to drop food on them occasionally. Since this tee is under $8, you can afford to buy a couple of them to last you the entire year.

Here is the view from the back so you can see the length of the coat.

I didn’t have these white Pull-On Girlfriend Jeans when I did my Best White Denim for Women Over 50 post. This pair was on order but didn’t come in before the post went out. I like to give affordable options, and this pair is perfect since it is under $30. These are an excellent option for white jeans since they are pull-on, are a great price, and I couldn’t see through them.

I wore the Beige Women’s Wedge Sandals with both outfits, but I would opt for a closed-toe shoe with the Salmon pants if it were cold outside. This pair of flats look like they would look great with the outfit, but I can’t be sure until I try them on.
