What I love this week: 3 easy pieces

7 total views

I’d ordered a few new things last week, and finally had time yesterday to open packages and try them on. I haven’t yet had a chance to style and shoot them but here’s an easy 3-piece outfit idea using the new pieces and some already in my wardrobe…

I first spotted this v-neck blouse when I was looking for pieces to include in my roundup of lightweight tops with sleeves. What wasn’t apparent from the image or description, but was a nice surprise, is that the stripes are gold and silver metallic.

The metallic stripes add an interesting detail, and make it more dress-up-able. The cotton fabric is gossamer light and slightly sheer, but because it’s not fitted I’d be comfortable wearing it without a camisole. (Of course you could always add one.) This blouse will also layer nicely under a lightweight cardigan or jacket without adding bulk.

It’s available in sizes X-Small to XX-Large. The website suggests sizing down but I ordered my regular size (small) and think the fit is fine. If you’re small-busted or have narrow shoulders, you may want to size down.

I’ve been looking for a pair of slim straight leg jeans with a lighter, even wash (not overly distressed). These are the Paige Cindy crop style, and I’m pleased with them. They have a bit of stretch and are quite comfortable. The rise hits me just at the navel, and they’re a true slim-straight leg. (I’d say they run true-to-size.) Because I’m short (5’1″) the cropped length is actually ankle length on me.

There’s also an ankle-length option with a slightly longer inseam. (For those of you who are looking for tall or full-length jeans, I’m working on some options for an upcoming post, stay tuned…)

I purchased this linen-blend cardigan last year, and the weather’s just about warm enough to pull it out and start wearing again. It’s an easy throw-on-and-go piece for cool evenings or air-conditioned interiors. It’s also available in Lavender and Black, sizes XX-Small to 3X.

When I’m wearing longer tops, I find a little bit of heel helps balance the proportions. These slide sandals are available in a bunch of different colors & finishes, but I really liked this cork option. They’re neutral and will go with almost anything, while adding some textural interest. They’re quite comfortable, too. I’d suggest going with your usual shoe size.
